Westcountry Case Management

Heidi Stanley

BSc(Hons) OT

Career History

Profile Picture

Since qualifying as an OT Heidi has gained extensive experience through working in a variety of paediatric settings across the country. Working in a school for children with autism and Challenging Behaviour gave Heidi a good grounding of the needs of children with sensory and learning difficulties. Within her NHS work she gained valuable experience of working with children with cerebral palsy and other complex physical conditions. In her post at a Child Development Centre Heidi carried out assessment and treatment of the child in their home or education setting. She jointly led a multi-disciplinary seating clinic to meet the needs of children with complex postural management. The post also involved seeing children with functional delay caused by conditions such as dyspraxia. As part of this Heidi set up and led therapy groups. To gain a sound knowledge base of children with cerebral palsy and complex long term conditions, Heidi moved from the NHS to a Social Care setting. This post enabled her to build upon her skills in equipment assessment, environmental adaptation and case management. In addition, she was able to gain more understanding of the impact of disability on the child and family.

Current Work

In addition to working as a case manager for Westcountry Case Management, Heidi prepares rehabilitation cost reports for claimants and defendants in respect of medico-legal claims. She also works independently as a children’s occupational therapist working with children who have acquired brain injury, autistic spectrum disorder and other complex medical conditions, including cerebral palsy.
