Career History
Since qualifying 11 years ago from St Loyes School of Occupational Therapy, Rhiannon has worked in a variety of fields, including general physical, mental health, forensic psychiatry and learning disabilities. She gained extensive experience in designing and managing care packages when she was Head of the Older Adult Mental Health Team for Monmouthshire and also developed these skills further when she moved in to the private sector and set up an Occupational Therapy Service for a low secure learning disability / mental health unit.
Rhiannon’s Occupational Therapy experience gives her the necessary skills to carry out detailed functional assessments and provide goal-focused intervention / rehabilitation plans as well as recommending aids, adaptations and equipment provision.
She has experience of working within a multi-disciplinary teams and on a 1:1 basis; working with statutory and private organisations, legal professionals and families.
Over the last 8 years Rhiannon has been involved in the training of OT’s, students, support staff and other professionals as well as providing courses for the Cardiff School of Nursing, Crossroads Care Agency and providing a workshop at the 2009 National OT Conference.
Current Work
Rhiannon has recently embarked on a career in the independent sector, and has begun to take private OT and case management referrals to work with adults in their own homes and in the community. She also carries out medico-legal work.

- Extensive knowledge and experience of the Mental Health / Mental Capacity Act.
- Extensive knowledge of risk assessment and risk management.
- Experience in report writing and care plans.
- Extensive experience in designing and organising care packages for adults with complex mental health and learning disabilities as well as for older adults and adults with medical conditions.
- Experience of implementing community based rehabilitation programmes, linking in with local services where possible.
