Vicky Richards MSc RMN RGN
Career History
Vicky Richards qualified as a psychiatric nurse in 1982 and as a Registered General Nurse in 1984. In 1988 she undertook a three year post graduate Diploma in Counselling. In 2001 she completed a MSc at the University of Glamorgan in Family Health; her dissertation was on the effects of head injury on the family. Between 1982 and 1995 she worked in a variety of settings including wards, clinics and community work.
In 1995 she became Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Welsh Neuropsychiatry Service working throughout Wales with clients who had emotional / cognitive and behavioural difficulties following an acquired brain injury (ABI). In 2001 she became lead clinician and co-ordinator of The Bro Taff Community Brain Injury Team. This team offers comprehensive community Neuro rehabilitation to clients who have suffered an ABI in Cardiff and the adjoining areas.
Current Work
Vicky leads a multidisciplinary team providing all aspects of community Neuro rehabilitation in the community. She continues to work with clients providing emotional support, behavioural management plans, anger management as well as family support and educational / information groups. She also works as a case manager for Westcountry Case Management Ltd.
