Gemma qualified as an occupational therapist in 2011 and pursued a career in her area of interest in paediatrics. She initially worked a spilt role as both a health and social care OT for the paediatric therapy department at Swindon Borough Council, gaining knowledge and experience of both roles which helped confirm her special area of interest, housing and adaptations/social care OT.
Gemma has an extensive knowledge and experience of a large range of conditions, including physical, neurological, learning and social difficulties and understands the many factors that impact on disabled children and their families. She is passionate about working collaboratively with all involved with her in order to achieve the best outcomes for each individual client.
Gemma works as a case manager for WCM as well as at the Wiltshire Council Children and young people disability team as a Level 3 practitioner. Gemma also works with The OT Practice as a private OT providing holistic and comprehensive assessment and recommendations as well as planning bespoke therapy intervention programmes to meet children’s complex needs.
Gemma is a highly skilled and passionate paediatric OT, she has extensive knowledge and experience including acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, and spinal injury with particular interest in neuromuscular conditions.
Gemma is both compassionate and empathetic and is able to establish and maintain good working relationships with children and families. She is highly motivated which ensures the best outcomes for all the children and families she works with. Gemma is resourceful in her approach to problem solving and enjoys working collaboratively with children, families and professionals.
