Pia qualified as a social worker in 1998 and has a wide range of experience, initially working with adults who have multiple as well as learning disabilities. Pia then worked in a community setting as a part of a multi-agency team, which consisted of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical nurse specialists, clinical psychologists and consultant psychiatrists. Pia formulated goal based care plans with the service users, carers and other statutory services and voluntary agencies.
Pia has worked with children and young people in a variety of settings, such as community, education and secure units. She has worked very closely with consultant psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses and youth workers as a part of a Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service; formulating care plans, reviewing these and undertaking risk assessments jointly with other agencies.
She has vast experience in liaising with her colleagues in hospitals and in the community. Pia has a degree in substance misuse and is very experienced in this field, working on a one to one basis with young people and adults to reduce their substance misuse, provide training, and consultation to other professionals. More recently, she has also worked with university students providing one to one specialist mentoring for students who have mental health problems and/or autism.
Pia has extensive experience in working with children, young people, and adults in a variety of teams and settings. She sets her aims very high with the people she works with to help them to reach their own personal goals as well as improve their quality of life.
